Object of Game: The object of the game Moolah is to go into the world of big money, accumulate as much money in your Wallet as yoo can, then return to the Bank, depositing it safely into your Personal Bank Account. Players roll the dice and move their tokens, landing on spaces which pay money into players’ Wallets, take money from players’ Wallets, and send players to other locations on the board. In addition, when a player lands on a space occupied by another player, he Mugs that player by taking all the money in his Wallet. When a player returns to the Bank he will either have accumulated a surplus of money in his Wallet which he may deposit into his Personal Bank Account, or need to withdraw more money from his Personal Bank Account to serve as “ready cash” during the play of the game A WINNER is declared when a player has deposited ONE MILLION DOLLARS (or more) into his Personal Bank Account.
Equipment: A game of Moolah consists of a board, money tray, money (in denominations of $500,000, $100,000, $50,000, $20,000, $10,000, and $5000), Las Vegas Casino, Wall Street (including Grain, Oil and Gold stocks), and Temptation cards, Personal Bank Account Score Pad, 8 Wallets, 8 player tokens, and a pair of dice.
Preparation: Place the board on table. Then, first shuffling, place Las Vegas Casino, Wall Street, and Temptation cards on their alloted spaces. Choose two players one to be Bank CASHIER, the other to be Bank ACCOUNTANT Provide Bank cashier with money tray, and provide Bank accountant with Personal Bank Account Score Pad. Also, provide each player with a token for his travels around board, and a Wallet to be kept by each player for the duration of game. Finally, at the top of a column in the Personal Bank Account Score Pad write the name of each player and ask how much money each player wishes to withdraw from their Personal Bank Account ($50,000 recommended).
How to Start Game: Starting with each player randomly throwing the dice, the player with the highest total begins play. He places his token on the space marked Bank, throws the dice, and moves his token in a CLOCK-WISE direction the number of spaces indicated on dice. After he has completed his play the turn passes to the player on the left. The tokens remain on the spaces occupied and proceed from that point on the player’s next turn.
The Bank: The Bank has two functions one as CASHIER (monay tray) whereby ALL money transactions between players and the board are carried out, and second as ACCOUNTANT whereby ALL transactions concerning players’ accounts are recorded. Each player begins the game with a Personal Bank Account of $250,000 and a Line of Cradit for $200,000. When a player lands on the space marked Bank he is entitled to deposit money into, or withdraw money out of his Personal Bank Account. For evample, if a player has $250,000 in his Personal Bank Account and then withdraw $50,000, his new bank account would then be $200,000. On the PersonnaL Bank Account Score Pad his column would read:
$250,000 (old balance)
$200,000 (new balance)
If, at a later time, the same player returned to the Bank and deposited $100,000 into his Personal Bank Account, his new bank account balance would than be $300,000 On the Personal Bank Account Score Pad his column would now read:
$200,000 (old balance)
$300,000 (new balance)
When a player uses up all of the $250,000 in his Personal Bank Account and begins to withdraw money from his Line of Credit, he is BORROWING that money from the Bank Note’ a player does not have access to his Line of Credit until his ENTIRE Personal Bank Account is spent. When a player borrows money out of his Line of Credit, the new bank account balance is recorded in the players’ Personal Bank Account Score Pad using NEGATIVE NUMBERS For avample, if a player has $10,000 remaining in his Personal Bank Account and then withdraw $50,000, his new bank account balance would than be -$40,000 On the Personal Bank Account Score Pad his column would read:
$10,000 (old balance)
- $40,000 (new balance)
If, at a later time, that same player withdraw an additional $100,000, his new bank account balance would then be -$140,000 On the Personal Bank Account Score Pad his column would read:
- $ 40,000 (old balance)
- $140,000 (new balance)
All money borrowed from the Line of Credit must be PAID BACK before a player can put money into his own Personal Bank Account. If, at a later time, that same player deposited $200,000 into his Personal Bank Account, his new bank account balance would then be $60,000 On the Personal Bank Account Score Pad his column would read:
- $140,000 (old balance)
$ 60,000 (new balance)
Should a player use up all of the money in his Personal Bank Account and Line of Credit, and not have sufficient cash in his Wallet to pay a debt, he has become Bankrupt, and is out of the game.
No matter what number is thrown on dice players CANNOT PASS, but must STOP at the Bank. Note: When a player is instructed by a space or card to go to another space on the board he does NOT STOP at the Bank.
Wallet: All cash withdrawn from player’s Personal Bank Account or won in game MUST be kept in player’s Wallet All cash lost in game (unless otherwise specified) MUST be paid out of player’s Wallet. At any time upon request by another player, a player must disclose ENTIRE contents of Wallet.
Loan Shark: When a player lands an a space instructing him to pay out more money than he has in his Wallet, he must borrow the balance from the Loan Shark. The amount borrowed, PLUS 50% interest, is IMMEDIATELY SUBTRACTED from the player's Personal Bank Account. For example, if a player who has NO money in his Wallet, but does have $100,000 in his Personal Bank Account, lands on a space instructing him to pay $50,000, his new bank account balance would then be $25,000. On the Personal Bank Account Score Pad his column would read:
$100,000 (old balance)
$ 25,000 (new balance)
If a player who has NO money in his Wallet but does have $50,000 in his Personal Bank Account lands on a space instructing him to pay $100,000, his new bank account balance would then be -$100,000. On the Personal Bank Account Score Pad his column would read:
$ 50,000 (old balance)
$100,000 (new balance)
A player CANNOT place a bet with money borrowed from the Loan Shark. When a player does not have sufficient money in his Personal Bank Account or Line of Credit, he CANNOT borrow from the Loan Shark.
Getting Mugged: A player gets Mugged when the space he is occupying is LANDED ON by another player. The Mugged player must then hand over ALL CASH in his Wallet to that player. The act of Mugging is always carried out FIRST, then a player must follow directions of space landed upon. A player cannot be Mugged while at the Bank, Bufe’s Bar & Grill, the Exit space of Bufe’s Bar & Grill, or the Parole space of the Big House.
Safe Zone: When a player lands on a space marked Safe Zone he CANNOT be Mugged.
Wall Street: When a player lands on the space marked Wall Street, if he chooses, he can play the stock market (minimum $10,000), investing money from Wallet in Grain, Oil or Gold stocks to any amount desired. The player places his investment on the space marked PLACE INVESTMENT HERE. Then he must take the top card from the stock of his choice and take profit or suffer loss as directed Note’ A player can play the stock market ONCE only each time he lands on the space.
Las Vegas Casino: When a player lands on the space marked Las Vegas Casino, if he chooses, he can play Black Jack, betting money from Wallet to any amount desired. The player places his bet on the space marked PLACE BET HERE. He then must take the Top card from the Las Vegas Casino card pile. This indicates HIS score. The player has the option of either ‘staying’, or increasing his wager up to double the original bet. Then another player draws a- second card from the pile. This is the “HOUSE” card/score. The closest score to 21 wins the bet. When the House wins the player loses his bet. When the player wins, he doubles his money. When both draw the same score, the House wins. Note: A player can play Black Jack ONCE only each time he lands on the space.
Take A Pal: When a player lands on the space marked Take A Pal, he may take ANY player desired to the space marked Las Vegas Casino, where both players must bet ALL cash in their Wallets. The player “taking the pal” plays Las Vegas Casino FIRST, the ‘pal” plays SECOND. Should a player and his “pal” Mug another player(s) already at the Las Vegas Casino they must divide all cash in the Mugged player’s Wallet equally, and then play. A player CANNOT “take a pal” who is already in Las Vegas Casino. Note: A player MUST “take a pal” in order to proceed to Las Vegas Casino.
Bufe’s Bar & Grill: When a player is sent to the space marked Bufe’s Bar & Grill, he must miss ONE turn. After a turn has been missed the players moves his token to the space marked Exit and awaits his next turn to roll the dice and enter back into game. Note: When a player gets to Exit he is NOT affected by the space marked Fair Share Square.
Moolah: When a player lands on the space marked Moolah, he may either remain on that space, or go to ANY other space marked Moolah. This board function enables a player, depending upon his particular playing situation, to position himself in a more desirable location on the board.
The Big House: When a player is sent to the space marked The Big House he loses ALL CASH in his Wallet, and moves his token to the Maximum Security or Minimum Security side of The Big House as directed. When a player is sent to Maximum Security he must miss TWO turns. When one turn has been missed the player moves his token to the Minimum Security side of The Big House When the second turn has been missed the player moves his token to the space marked Parole, and awaits his next turn to roll the dice and enter back into game. When a player is sent to Minimum Security he must miss ONE turn. When a turn has been missed the player moves his token to the space marked Parole, and awaits his next turn to roll the dice and enter back into game. Note: when a player gets to the space marked Parole, he is not affected by the space marked Prison Break.
Prison Break: When a player lands on the space marked Prison Break, while there is another player in The Big House, he automatically causes that “prisoner” to escape. First the prisoner “escapes” to the space marked Prison Break. Then prisoner Mugs player. If there is more than one escaping prisoner they must divide all cash in the Mugged player’s Wallet equally.
Option Point: When a player LANDS ON or PASSES OVER either of the spaces marked Option Point, he may continue around the outside pathway, or proceed up corresponding inner pathway. Unless otherwise specified on board, or Advantage Card, a player cannot proceed down any pathway in a direction CONTRARY to what is indicated by “hands”.
Temptation Cards: When a player lands on a space marked Temptation, he must take the top card from the Temptation Card pile and do EXACTLY as directed, and then place card on space marked Discard Of these cards the Advantage Card requires further explanation.
Advantage Card: is a card drawn from the Temptation Card pile and is HELD by the player until needed. This card enables a player to move any direction 1 to 5 spaces (as indicated on card face). This card can be used ONCE only, and then placed on the space marked Discard. When it is his turn to move, a player may use the Advantage card either before or after rolling the dice. If used BEFORE rolling the dice, the player does not roll in that turn. Once the card is played, the player’s turn ENDS (this also applies to player rolling doubles). This card CANNOT be used on the same turn as picked up. If a player has more than one Advantage card in his possession, they CANNOT be used in combination. Also this card CANNOT be used to go backwards PAST the Bank. However, if EXACT number of moves is indicated on card, player may use card to go backwards INTO the bank. Note: A player must obey space landed on BEFORE using Advantage Card.
Rolling Doubles: When a player rolls doubles (ie both die having the same number face-up), unless otherwise directed, he MUST take another turn. This rule also applies to a player being “stopped” at the Bank. When a player is penalized a turn or turns, he may use his double roll to eliminate the loss of one turn. Note: Rolling doubles DOES NOT allow a player to avoid the consequences of his first roll.
Round-Off Clause: When a transaction of money occurs but exact change cannot be given, round-off amount to next higher denomination in PLAYER'S favour.
Playing All Spaces and Cards Not Otherwise Mentioned: The instructions for playing all other spaces and cards are self-explanotory. Without exception, players must do EXACTLY as directed.
