EQUIPMENT

Playing board, 588 question cards, 24 Star Award cards, 6 Let’s Get Personal playing cards, 1 Oath card, 1 set of directions, 6 playing pawns, 96 playing cardchips, 120 Food Pot chits and 2 numbered die.

OBJECT OF THE GAME

To be the first partners to reach the large centre heart by guessing your partner’s answers to the questions asked, by completing the Let’s Get Personal playing card and by the luck of the die.

GAME CONCEPT

When it is your turn, your partner must try to match how you will answer the question asked IMPORTANT: You must select one of the three answers provided, even if you do not totally agree with them. Failure to select an answer forfeits your turn.

BEFORE THE GAME BEGINS

Before the game can be played, one person must read aloud the Let’s Get Personal Oath and all players must agree to honour it’s validity ‘Let’s Get Personal’ is a game of fun and its intent is to create an atmosphere in which we can openly laugh at ourselves and discuss some of the more controversial issues of the world we live in. The creators of ‘Let’s Get Personal’ do not in any way support or give credibility to any of the possible answers to the questions asked and will therefore not be held responsible for any actions resulting from the playing of the ‘Let’s Get Personal’ game.

SETTING UP OF THE GAME TO PLAY

Each player receives 1 playing pawn, 1 playing card, 1 dial answer card, 16 playing card chips and 20 Food Chit bills. Place the Let’s Get Personal Star Award cards face down in their proper board location.

HOW TO PLAY (At Last’)

Step # 1. Partners will sit opposite each other at the table

Step # 2. To start the game at GO each player rolls the die, highest roller begins.

Step #3. NOTE: A player must successfully compare answers before he can roll the die and move to collect a letter.

Step #4. Beginning player selects a question from the question tray and reads the question and answers aloud.

Step #5. The player then indicates a choice of answers a, b, c, by moving the dial on their answer card to the appropriate letter. At all times you must conceal your answer from your partner.

Step #6. Your partner then tries to guess your answer to the question and moves their dial card to the letter they think you have selected.

Step #7. When you and your partner have made your choice you then place your answer cards face up on the table together. If they match, you get to roll the die and move on the board collecting the letter you land on. Each player answers one question only and moves once per turn. If answers do not match, you do not get to roll the die and the play moves to the next player.

Step #8. As the play moves around the board, cover up the corresponding board letters and your Zodiac sign on the playing card with the plastic chips. NOTE: A player’s Zodiac sign may be covered if either the player or their partner lands on their sign.

Step #9. The player may enter the inner square when they land on a square with a heart arrow CAUTION: The outer square contains more letters than the inner square. The player must determine if it would be wise to move to the inner square too soon.

NOTES ON PLAY

Food Pot or Hostess Saver Determine a value for each Food Pot Chit. Whenever a player lands on a Food Pot space he places one Food Chit in the space provided. At the games end, each player will determine their contribution. Contributions can be used to obtain food, reward the hostess or a variety of purposes.

Roll Again If a player lands on a Roll Again space, the player can roll the die again without having to answer a question.

Star Award Landing on a corner Star Award entitles the player to draw a card from the Star Award pile and follow its instruction.

Zodiac Sign Check the Oath card for your proper sign and its description.

Heart Arrow For moving from the outer square to the inner square only.

IMPORTANT BOARD RULES

Each player answers one question only and moves once per turn, except if he lands on Roll Again. The player can move clockwise or counterclockwise on the board except when the die number rolled lands you on a Food Pot. In this situation, you must move to Food Pot and add a chit.

How and when to enter the board centre. If a player’s playing card is not complete, he may not enter the large red heart and select a heart route to the board centre. (See Yellow Heart Route for only exception). The player simply moves through the K E Y lettered spaces using them as regular board spaces.
If a player’s playing card is complete and he lands on any of the K E Y board spaces, he may place his playing pawn in the large red heart and on their next turn select and proceed along the heart route of their choice. Only one die is used to complete the journey to the centre of the board.

SELECTION OF A HEART ROUTE

The player has the choice of three different heart routes to the board centre.
Orange Heart Route The player’s 1st and 2nd choice of answers for the same question must compare with their partner’s before they move. The player and his partner compare their 1st choice using the dial answer card and then repeat for the player’s 2nd choice. The player must repeat the above procedure on each turn.

Red Heart Route The player must draw two different questions from the card tray and match their 1st choice for each question with their partner’s before moving on each turn.

Yellow Heart Route This is the only heart route to the centre of the board that a player whose playing card is incomplete by only one letter may take. The player’s first choice to one question must compare with his partners before moving on each turn. However, if the player lands on the purple dot, both the player and his partner are out of the game.

IMPORTANT: A player can only complete their game by rolling the correct number on the die to land them in the board centre.

UNIQUE OPTIONS TO PLAY THE GAME

(Depending on how much time you have to play)
Option #1 The ‘Quickie’ Version Both partners fill the same playing card but each uses their own playing pawn. Zodiacs for each player must be covered on the playing card before proceeding to the board centre 1 partner only must reach the centre to win. This means each partner can concentrate on different areas of the board.

EXAMPLE: 1 partner remains in the outer square collecting letters while their partner dashes to the inner square collecting the Zodiacs and heart route to the centre.

Option #2 The ‘Half & Half’ Version Same as the rules above but both partners must reach the centre.

Option #3 The ‘Marathon’ Version Both partners complete individual playing cards and both must reach the centre.

For a game with a twist, switch partners.
