EQUIPMENT

The Gargoyle Gigantik® game contains one Gigantik® play mat, 32 playing cards, spinner and 4 character play pieces with stands.

BEFORE THE GAME BEGINS:

1. Clear a space on the floor and lay the play mat out flat.

2. Separate the playing cards, shuffle them and place them character side down in the space allotted on the play mat surface.

3. Separate the four character play pieces and place each in a stand. Players select the character play piece of their choice.

4. Separate the spinner card and assemble the spinner.

5. Before the game begins each player places their play piece on their matching Castle Space located in one of the four corners of the play mat surface.

OBJECT OF THE GAME:

To collect the most Gargoyle character playing cards as possible and to get rid of as many Xanatos and/or Demona cards collected during the game as you can before the game ends.

TO BEGIN PLAY:

1. Players spin the spinner to determine who plays first. The player with the highest spin starts the game.

2. Players take turns spinning the spinner, moving clockwise the number of spaces indicated by the spinner.

3. When a player’s turn ends, pass the spinner to the player on your left.

4. When you land on a space, follow the instructions below.

TYPES OF SPACES:

CLAW SPACES: When a player lands on a space with claw marks carved in stone the player must pick up a card from the card deck and reveal it to all other players. (See Types of Cards)

NOTE: At no time during the game can a player pick up a card from the discard pile. When discarding cards place the card character side up.

CASTLE SPACES: Castle spaces are located in each of the four corners of the play mat. When a player lands on a Castle space they must move forward in a clockwise direction to another Castle space of their choice.

XANATOS AND DEMONA SPACES: A player that lands on a Demona or Xanatos space must do battle by spinning the spinner. If you spin a 1, 2 or 3, you must pick up a card from the card deck. (All normal card rules apply). If you spin a 4, 5 or 6, you must pick up a card but, should your card be a Xanatos, Demona or Daytime card, you may pass the card to the player of your choice.

ELISA MAZA SPACES: When landing on this space the player does not pick up a card from the card deck. Should the player landing on the space hold a Xanatos or a Demona card they may discard one of these cards to the discard pile on the play mat surface. If the player doesn’t have one of these cards in their possessiov, nothing happens. The player’s turn ends and the spinner gets passed to the player on their left.

LANDING ON ANOTHER PLAYER: When you land on another player nothing happens. Disregard the space completely and pass the spinner to the player on your left.

TYPES OF CARDS:

GARGOYLES CARDS: Gargoyles cards are the cards each player attempts to collect during the game. When a player picks up a Gargoyle character card the player must keep the card in front of them off the play mat surface. Collect as many Gargoyles cards as you can.

XANATOS AND DEMONA CARDS: These are the cards players do not want to collect. If a player on their turn picks up either of these cards, the player must keep the card in front of them and off the play mat surface.

ELISA MAZA CARDS: When players land on a Claw Space and pick up an Elisa Maza card they may use this card to rid themselves of either a Xanatos or Demona card. Should a player have one of these cards in their possession, discard both the Elisa Maza card along with one Xanatos/Demona card to the discard pile. If the player doesn’t have one of these cards in their possession the player must discard the Elisa Maza card to the discard pile.

DAYTIME CARDS: When a player picks up a Daytime card the player loses a turn and must move their play piece back to their respective Castle space located in one of the four corners on the play mat surface. Place the Daytime card in the discard pile and pass the spinner to the player on your left.

NIGHT TIME CARDS: When a player picks up a Night Time card nothing happens. Place the Night Time card in the discard pile on the play mat surface.

TO WIN: After all 32 cards in the deck have been played, disregard all spaces landed on except the Elisa Maza space. As soon as a player lands on any Castle Space the game ends. Should a player land on an Elisa Maza space before this occurs the player may discard a Xanatos or a Demona card to the discard pile. To determine the winner of the game, each player counts one point for each of the Gargoyles Character Cards collected during the game and subtracts one point for any Xanatos and Demona card in their possession, from the total. The winner is the player with the most points at the end of the game. To start a new game, collect all cards, reshuffle the deck and place the deck on its allotted space on the play mat surface.
