RULES

OBJECT

The object of the game is to collect all 12 cards needed to save your endangered species.

EQUIPMENT

90 EQUIPMENT cards, 90 REASONS & REMEDY cards, 1 vinyl playing map, 8 playing pieces, 2 dice, 24 animal pamphlets, 1 pad of check-off lists.

PREPARATION

Shuffle each deck of cards and place them FACE DOWN in the center of the board. Each player chooses a playing piece and places it on the square marked "START". Select an animal pamphlet and after reading it through, fill out a sheet from the pad, ticking off the 6 EQUIPMENT cards and the 6 REASONS & REMEDY cards you will need on your excursion NOTE. ALL 12 CARDS MUST BE CHOSEN FROM THE INFORMATION GIVEN IN THE PAMPHLET.

TO START THE GAME

In turn, each player reads aloud the first sentence on his/her check list. “I will be travelling to ________ to save the". You must not read any further and all your needed cards MUST be kept secret throughout the game.

Before you start to collect your REASONS & REMEDY CARDS, you must have your 6 EQUIPMENT cards so Deal out 6 EQUIPMENT cards to each player. The first player rolls the dice and moves his, her playing piece around the OUTER TRACK, following the directions where he/she lands. NOTE: YOU MUST ALWAYS HAVE 6 CARDS IN YOUR HAND.

When you draw an EQUIPMENT card you may keep it and discard one from your hand or discard the new one straight away. It must be placed FACE UP in the discard pile (REMEMBER: YOU SHOULD ONLY HAVE 6!) Play proceeds to your left and the following players can either roll the dice OR draw the top discarded card.

/ If you draw more than 1 EQUIPMENT card you must also discard more than 1.

/ You may pick up the top discarded card only on your turn.

/ If you roll double 6’s, go again!

/ "WILD' cards can be used in place of any EQUIPMENT cards.

/ Players must stay on the outer track until all 6 EQUIPMENT cards have been found.

/ Discarded pile should be shuffled and placed FACE DOWN when there are no more cards to draw from.

THE BOARD EXPLAINED

"ENDANGERED" is played on 2 tracks, the outer track is used to collect your 6 EQUIPMENT cards and the inner track is used to collect your 6 REASONS & REMEDIES cards. The squares which need further explanation are:

TAKE FROM DISCARD PILE You may rummage through the discarded cards, retrieving as many as you need REMEMBER YOU ONLY HAVE 6 CARDS IN YOUR HAND AT A TIME!

JOIN FORCES Each player takes 1 card from his/her hand, shuffles them together and redistributes the cards.

PASS Each player passes 1 card to the player on his/her left.

SWITCH PLACES You must switch places with a player of your choice and follow the instructions where you land.

TAKE A CARD You must take 1 card from the hand of any chosen player, keep it and discard another one or discard it right away. The player you took from must replace his/her missing card from the top of the pile.

TRADING POST You may discard as many of your cards as you wish BEFORE drawing the missing number from the top of the pile.

LOSE A WILD CARD You must discard 1 WILD card from your hand (if you have one) and replace the missing card with one from the top of the pile.

THE ADVENTURE CONTINUES...

Once you have obtained your 6 EQUIPMENT cards, you MUST land on a square marked “ENTER” in order to advance to the inner track. On your following turn, you reintroduce your animal and country as well as reading aloud and showing the 6 EQUIPMENT cards you needed. DO NOT READ ANY FURTHER FROM YOUR LIST.
Place your 6 EQUIPMENT cards to one side, draw 6 REASON & REMEDIES cards, roll the dice and continue on your journey NOTE: YOU NO LONGER GO BY THE RULES OF THE OUTER TRACK. YOU DO NOT PARTICIPATE WITH PLAYERS REMAINING ON THE OUTER TRACK.

INNER TRACK

When you reach the inner track you begin to search for the 6 REASONS & REMEDY cards you have chosen. Many trials and tribulations can and do happen so be careful and GOOD LUCK!

The same rules apply to you if you land on the squares described beforehand. However, if you land on a square which instructs you to lose a piece of equipment you own, you must roll 1 die. If you roll EVENS you get to stay and continue your trek but if you roll ODDS you must put your REASONS & REMEDY cards to one side, discard the EQUIPMENT CARD you lost, and draw the top card from the EQUIPMENT pile in order to maintain your 6 cards.
You then go back to START on the outer track and continue until you have replaced your missing card If you were using a number of WILD cards for a number of EQUIPMENT cards you may subsutute your missing EQUIPMENT CARD for any other card as long as you have the 6 cards you ticked off.

As soon as you replace your missing card, go directly to the nearest ENTER square, put your EQUIPMENT cards to one side and resume play with the REASON & REMEDY cards.

WINNING

The first player to collect all 12 cards declares himself/herself the winner and proceeds to read his/her checklist aloud and reveal his/her cards to the other players.

...ABOUT OUR GAMES

With the increasing public concern over the growing number of endangered species and the inhumane treatment of animals, FAMILY GAMES has developed a line of board games, card games and puzzles in order to enlighten children of all ages to the animals’predicament.

"THE ADVENTURES OF OLIVER & TOES" follows the escapades of two dogs as they tour their neighborhood, revealing interesting and amusing information about their fellow comrades along the way.

“ENDANGERED” is a realistic and fast paced game which makes participants aware of the plight of endangered species as they travel the world searching for reasons and remedies to aid their chosen animal.

"COLORFUL KINGDOM" has children matching animals to their respective habitats as well as imitating the sounds and behavior of familiar creatures.

Our line of MAGNETIC PUZZLES has children piecing together animals and characters from all 3 of our board games in a fascinating and revolutionary new way.

We believe that by introducing the animal world to children at a young age, there is a better chance of instilling in them an understanding and respect for all living creatures FAMILY GAMES hopes to encourage children and their parents to become interested in animals, read up about them, learn about them and become involved with the A.S P.C.A. or their local animal organization.

Only through awareness can we make a change. That is what our line of games is all about.

A ROYALTY FROM EACH OF OUR GAMES IS REMITTED TO THE A.S.P.C.A, AND TO LOCAL ANIMAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL GROUPS. WHENEVER POSSIBLE, OUR GAMES ARE MADE USING RECYCLED MATERIALS.
