BODY COUNT
OBJECT OF THE GAME
The object of the game is to predict the final BODY COUNT in an action video. Teams or individual
players advance from their predictions to the final BODY COUNT by answering question cards. The
first player to advance from the final BODY COUNT to the center of the game board is the winner.
TO BEGIN
Place the board in an upright position and apply a small amount of TOKEN TAC to the bottom of each
token.
Select an action video. Each player predicts the number of characters that will become casualties
throughout the course of the movie. Predictions are marked with a colored token on the BODY COUNT
game board. Players who have seen the movie before choose first. Set the rotary counter to zero,
start the movie and a one hour timer (not included).
No pausing or rewinding the movie and no note taking!
THE MOVIE
Each time a fatality is shown, advance the rotating body counter one space.
Each time a character is terminated without the use of a gun, distribute one CREATIVE KILL card to
each player. Multiple CREATIVE KILLS only qualify for a single CREATIVE KILL card although each
BODY COUNT is registered on the game board.
When the one hour timer expires, stop the movie for intermission play. If no CREATIVE KILL cards have
been distributed, each player may draw one from the deck.
Starting with the player furthest from the final BODY COUNT, each player may adjust their board position
by counting up or down using any or all of their CREATIVE KILL cards. Play continues to the left
until each player has finished adjusting their position. All used CREATIVE KILL cards are returned
to the bottom of the deck. Unused CREATIVE KILL cards are retained for post movie play.
Bumping is not allowed during intermission play. Restart the movie and continue play as before.
POST MOVIE PLAY
At the conclusion of the movie the player furthest from the final BODY COUNT begins. This starting
player draws a question card and reads it aloud. This starting player now has one full sand timer
to answer the question. Once the player has answered the question, the opponents have one full sand
timer to accept or reject the answer.
If the answer is incorrect no move is made and play continues to the left. A correct answer advances
the player one space, or the number shown on one of their CREATIVE KILL cards. The player may choose
NOT to move and instead draw another CREATIVE KILL, card from the deck. If a question does not apply
to the movie or if a player answers with "There was no such incident in the entire movie," opponents
may challenge the answer or discard the question and draw another.
When a player advances with a CREATIVE KILL "Bumping" card and lands on a space occupied by an
opponent, these players switch positions.
CREATIVE KILL cards cannot be used to enter or advance inside the center board.
STRATEGY
When answering a question card It can be advantageous to bluff - If you don’t know the answer; maybe
no one else does either! If the opponents do not challenge the bluff, it is treated as a correct
answer. If the opponents successfully challenge the bluff, It is treated as an incorrect answers.
If the player and a challenging opponent cannot decide whether the answer is correct or incorrect,
the FIVE MINUTE DUEL RULE applies.
THE FIVE MINUTE DUEL RULE
When a player and an opponent cannot agree on an answer, this opponent must find the relevant scene
in the video within five minutes. The loser of this duel is penalized five spaces if inside the center
board or ten spaces if on the outside numbered ring. If time expires, the player advances as a correct
answer, while the opponent is penalized. Players may withdraw from a duel without penalty until the
video search is started.
THE WINNER
Players advance to the final BODY COUNT and then progress to the winning position in the center of
the board: When on the winning position, the player does not draw a question card. Each opposing
player (or team) draws a question card and decides which question will be asked for the win.
SQUEALER RULE
The SQUEALER RULE - adds humor and social interaction to the movie portion ofthe BODY COUNT game.
Players often find it difficult to avoid giving away events in the movie before they happen. Any
player caught forewarning is passed the SQUEALER card. The SQUEALER card may only be discarded by
passing it,to another player who has committed a squealer infraction. The player holding the SQUEALER
card at the end of the movie is penalized five spaces.
Differing opinions over movie details which can not be resolved with the FIVE MINUTE DUEL RULE are
resolved by majority decision - a tie favors the challenged player.
