PlayToy Industries
For 2 to 4 players Ages 5 and up

EQUIPMENT

A Bug’s Life Gigantik® game contains 1 Gigantik® playmat, 1 Gigantik® Die, 4 Gigantik® character play pieces, 20 food leaves, 5 Hopper leaves and 5 splat leaves.

BEFORE THE GAME BEGINS

1. Clear a space on the floor and lay the playmat out flat.
2. Pop out all 30 die-cut leaves from the sheet, with character side down mix them together then place them randomly along the ant path on the Gigantik® playmat. Each should be on a leaf space.

OBJECT OF THE GAME

To be the first player to get back to the colony after collecting the five food leaves that have the matching character to their character play piece (i.e. if the player has Flik they must collect all the leaves that have Flik on them).

TO BEGIN PLAY

1. Youngest player goes first.
2. Pop out the character play pieces. Place each of the character play pieces in a stand. Each player then chooses a character play piece.
3. Roll the Gigantik® die. Move your character play piece along the path on the playmat the number of spaces that matches the number rolled on the die. You may go along any path you choose and you may move backward or forward, but once you choose a direction you must continue to move in that direction the number of spaces indicated on the Gigantik® die.
4. When you land on a space, follow the instructions under SPACE INSTRUCTIONS.
5. Once the player has completed their turn play resumes with the player to the left.

FOOD & HOPPER LEAVES

Each food leaf shows a type of food pictured with one of the four characters in the game. The characters on the food leaves match the characters on the play pieces. Each Hopper leaf has a picture of Hopper. These should be mixed together and placed randomly one each on a leaf space on the playmat with the food side down. When a player lands on a leaf space with a die-cut leaf on it they should follow the instructions indicated under LEAF SPACES.

SPLAT LEAVES

When a player finds a splat leaf (see diagram for splat) they get to take a food leaf from another player and give it to Hopper. The player then places the leaf back on the space with the splat side showing. When the splat side is showing and the player lands on that space nothing happens and the play continues with the player to the left.

Space Instructions

LEAF SPACES

When you land on a leaf space on the Gigantik® playmat two things can occur. If there is no die-cut leaf on the space then the player’s turn is over and the next player to the left begins their turn by rolling the Gigantik® die. If there is a die-cut leaf on the space the player picks it up. The player turns the leaf over to see if it is a food leaf, a Hopper leaf or a splat leaf. If it is a food leaf and it matches their character play piece the player gets to keep it. If it does not match, the player places it back on the space with the character side up. Now that the character is revealed the player who has that character can move to that space to collect the food leaf at any time during the game. If the player discovers that they have landed on a Hopper leaf they must show the other players then give up one food leaf. This means Hopper has taken your food. The leaf should be placed on the Hopper area located in the corner of the playmat food side up. If the player does not have a food leaf they must go back 3 spaces from the direction they just moved. The player then puts the leaf back where it was with the Hopper side facing up. Now when a player lands on this space they may retrieve one of their food leaves from the Hopper area in the corner of the playmat. If the player lands on a splat leaf follow instructions under SPLAT LEAVES.

HOPPER AREA

There is an image of Hopper located in the corner of the playmat. When a player gives up a food leaf they must place it on this image of Hopper. This means that your food has been taken by Hopper and can only be retrieved when you land on die-cut leaf that has Hopper’s face showing.

LANDING ON ANOTHER PLAYER

When players land on another player it is the same as landing on a normal space. If there is a die-cut leaf on the space the player picks it up and follows the instructions under LEAF SPACES.

TO WIN

To be the first player to get back to the colony after collecting the five food leaves that have the matching character to their character play piece (i.e. if the player has Flik they must collect all the leaves that have Flik on them).

PLAY OPTIONS

When there are only two or three players each player selects a character play piece. The remaining character play pieces and corresponding food leaves are removed from the game. The same rules apply for game play as above.
